Yaspa has appointed Cameron Flood as Head of Product for the UK and Europe as the fintech expands across several markets.
Flood will lead product development and launches across the UK and Europe, taking responsibility for product direction in both regions. He joins from Shieldpay, where he served as Head of Product.
At Shieldpay, he led product strategy and delivery for digital escrow and payment products used in higher-value, higher-volume transactions. Earlier in his career, he was a Product Manager at Vocalink, focusing on real-time domestic payment infrastructure in markets including Peru, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
The appointment brings an experienced payments product executive to Yaspa as it pushes further into open banking, payments and identity services. Flood will work closely with Max Collinge, Vice President of Product, who is based in the US.
Yaspa has been expanding its footprint in the UK and overseas. Alongside its London base, it has opened an office in Atlanta and a technology hub in Leeds as it builds its presence in the US and UK.
The company has also secured external backing, closing a USD $12 million investment round led by Discerning Capital to support development of its payments and data products.
Product focus
Flood's background is rooted in financial technology and payment systems. His previous roles have focused on product management in regulated environments, including work on payment flows, transaction processes and customer-facing financial tools.
That experience aligns with Yaspa's offering of instant payment services tied to open banking and account verification. Operating across the UK, Europe and the US, the company combines bank payments with customer data checks and payment verification.
Yaspa has also received recent industry recognition. It was named among the higher-growth start-ups in the UK and Ireland, won the Real-Time Payments Innovation award at the Payments Awards, and was included in the CB Insights Fintech 100 list.
Those milestones are part of a broader expansion over the past 18 months. The latest senior hire suggests product leadership remains central to that effort as Yaspa builds out services across multiple regions.
"We're delighted to welcome Cameron to the team. His experience and expertise make him ideally placed to continue to drive product innovation across payments and data solutions in our core markets. Cameron will be working closely with Max Collinge, now our Vice President of Product, based in the US; and will add on-the-ground experience to ensure Yaspa continues to be leading product innovation in the payment sector for years to come," said James Neville, Chief Executive Officer, Yaspa.
Flood said he was joining a company that had already built a clear position in the market.
"I've been impressed by what Yaspa has already achieved, building payments solutions that don't just move money faster, but provide real-time intelligence that helps businesses grow responsibly. I'm excited to scale our product capabilities to serve even more businesses while maintaining the innovation and customer-centricity that has driven Yaspa's success," he said.
